How to Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in Missoula, There’s a Lot to Do!
It's almost St. Patrick's Day! If you're lucky enough to be in Missoula, that means there is a bunch of stuff to do.
Saturday March 14
12:00 p.m. (noon) - Of course, the big draw is the St. Patrick's Day Parade which kicks off at noon in Downtown Missoula. Be sure to show up early if you want a close parking space... seriously, it can get packed quick.
2:30 p.m. - Catch more Irish culture right after the game with a free hurling match at Washington Grizzly Stadium. The game starts off at 2:30 and will give you a new definition of "fighting Irish." This ancient Irish sport is more fierce than footballl (no pads!), you're in for a treat.
6:00 - Finally, the great gathering of the Irish will begin at 6:00 p.m with the famous St. Patrick’s Day Banquet and Auction. This evening is the closest you’ll get to a gathering of the Irish clans, all coming together in support of their shared heritage and culture. The night is filled with great Irish music, Irish dance and no shortage of folks imbibing all the fun. The event starts with a cocktail hour at 6 p.m. at the DoubleTree Hotel, located at 100 Madison St. in Missoula. Tickets cost $30 per person. Go here for more info.
On St. Patrick's Day proper, that would be Tuesday, March 17. The annual St. Patrick’s Day Dinner will be held at St. Anthony’s between 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on 217 Tremont St. Corn beaf and cabbage will be on the menu as well as other Irish fixins. Kids 5 and under eat free. $4 for kids older than five. $10 dollars for adults who get tickets in advance and $12 at the door. Call 406-543-3129 for more info.
