The 105th Creamery Picnic is this weekend in Stevensville, August 4 and 5. The annual event is stuffed with activities, food and fun, as always!

One of the highlights is the 16th Annual Montana State Barbecue Championship with the theme "Smokin' in the 'Root." Teams from throughout the Northwest will be competing in the two-day event. The judging will be Saturday, starting at 1:30 p.m. and the Grand Champion will be named at 6:30 p.m. The public will be able to sample the pork, beef and chicken from the entrants for a small fee.

There are two parades - the Kids Parade at 6:30 p.m. Friday (with ice cream!) and the Grand Parade at 11 a.m. Saturday morning. Those parades will both be on Main Street.
The rest of the events are split between downtown and the Lewis & Clark Park, next to the city pool on west side of town.

Friday at the Entertainment Stage, Charla Bauman will sing at 4:30 p.m. and the Family Fun Dance is next at 7 p.m. with Shane Clouse and Stompin' Ground.

Saturday, the Masonic Temple has a pancake breakfast, starting at 7 p.m. The Milk Run 5K and 10K runs start at Veterans Park at 9 a.m.

The Grand Parade is at 11 a.m. The kids teen games start at the park at 12 noon and run all day.

On the Entertainment Stage Saturday will be The Sandbox at 12 noon. The Bitterroot Community Band will be under the tent at the park at 1 p.m. Lolo Creek Band will onstage at 2:30 p.m. and the Family Fun Dance will start with the Tom Cats. Downtown the Teen Dance will be next to Valley Drug at 8 p.m., while the second band of the Family Fun Dance will be "406" at 8:30 p.m.

Of course, there will be guided tours of historic St. Mary's Mission, hamburgers and homemade pies at the Senior Center, the Creamery Picnic Brew Fest Friday and Saturday and the All Valley Fire Department Challenge and Keg Shoot Saturday.

It's the Bitterroot at its best!
