Cindy Mikesell at Mikesell's Fine Jewelry started planning a small little celebration of National Puppy Day on March 23 and that started a landslide of interest from other Hamilton businesses join in and also raise some money for the Bitterroot Humane Association.

Cindy's plan is not just for Tuesday, but all week long. She has a discount on "puppy-inspired" Sterling silver jewelry with a portion of sales going to the Bitterroot Humane Association's new shelter. Also, Wednesday, March 24, they'll have a puppy from the humane shelter at the store from 2:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The Hamilton Downtown Association started a contest on their Facebook page for "Best Puppy Photo." Quite a few entries are on display and the winner will get a Nap's Grill gift certificate. But that's not all. Chapter One Book Store is giving away a basket of goodies and Montana Bliss Artworks is donating 50 percent of purchase of any concrete sculpture to the Humane Association. Other businesses are offering specials and almost all of them are providing ways to donate to the Bitter Root Humane Association, too.

Here's a list of many of the participating businesses:
Mikesell's Fine Jewelry, Chapter One Book Store, Montana Bliss Artworks, Hamilton Downtown Association, Ace Hardware, Copper Poppy Boutique, The Closet, Red's Hair Studio and Boutique, First Montana Title Company, Keystone Financial, Robbin's On Main, Big Creek Coffee, ATR, Mineshaft, Clearwater Properties, Bitterroot Performing Art Series, Hamilton Gifts, Ravalli County Museum and Bitterroot Brewery. And quite a few of the businesses will have little treats for your canine companion. Enjoy National Puppy Day!
