Griz Football Great Nominated for Player of the Year Again
Congratulations to Montana Grizzly linebacker Dante Olson, who is once again this year nominated for the Buck Buchanan Award!
Dante is one of the three top votegetters announced Tuesday for the prestigious STATS FCS honor for the outstanding defensive player in the Football Championship Subdivision. He is hoping to join Kroy Biermann (2007) and Tyrone Holmes (2015) as the third Griz in program history to win the honor. Montana's two other non-winning two-time finalists are Trumaine Johnson and Jordan Tripp.
For a second straight season Dante led the FCS in tackles with 165. He will be joined in Frisco, Texas, for the award ceremony by the other two nominees, Ron'Dell Carter of James Madison and Sully Laiche of Nichols, both defensive ends.
He is nominated for so many preseason and postseason accomplishments, it gets hard to keep track sometimes. And Griz Nation knows what a tremendous guy he is on and off the field. Our thanks to UM Sports Information Director Eric Taber for sending us the exciting news.
Good luck, #33!
