Here's a fantastic opportunity for Native American students to earn a degree in one of the most noble professions there is - nursing.

Montana State University has received a $2.5 million grant to allow Native students to study at their College of Nursing. The opportunity will allow students who enroll, a chance to receive fully paid tuition from Montana Advantage Nursing Scholarships. 175 American Indian and Alaska Native nursing students will receive scholarships starting this fall, and each year through 2025.

The hope is that the grant money and program will increase enrollment and graduation rates among the Native American community by eliminating financial barriers for these students. Students will be trained in culturally sensitive health care, which is a great benefit to tribal communities across Montana.

MSU’s College of Nursing offers a bachelor’s of science in nursing, a master’s of science in nursing and a doctorate of nursing practice degree. Undergraduate students complete their upper level coursework at one of the college’s five campus sites in Billings, Bozeman, Great Falls, Kalispell or Missoula ensuring each student is able to complete more than 1,000 hours of clinical learning experiences in a variety of settings. All campuses offer the latest simulation technology to create scenarios students may encounter in practice. MSU boasts the only graduate nursing program in the state. Students who complete both the undergraduate and graduate programs consistently score well above the national average in licensing and certification examinations.
