Although these incidents occurred far from western Montana, the disgusting nature of the acts always resonates with hunters all over the state.

In the past week in two separate incidents, four mature bull elk have been found shot and left to rot. These discoveries were made near Roundup and another remote area of Musselshell County. One involved three elk shot and killed in the same area. A fourth elk was killed about 25 miles from where the other three were found.

There are about 650 miles of county roads spread over 1,871 square miles in Musselshell County with a very sparse population. But here's hoping residents will be vigilant and if they see or suspect anything, they will alert Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks to any suspicious activity.
