Former Montana Grizzly Basketball Stars Earn High Academic Honors

We congratulate two University of Montana Grizzly basketball standouts, who are also being recognized for their talents in the classroom.

Today (Wednesday) former Montana players Jamar Akoh and Michael Oguine were named the National Association of Basketball Coaches Honors Court, an accolade given to college basketball student-athletes who not only perform exceptionally well on the court but also have lots of success in the classroom. In order to be selected, a player must have at least a cumulative 3.2 grade point average and be a junior or senior. Jamar and Michael concluded their senior seasons in March.

Both former Grizzlies are looking to extend their careers. This past week, Jamar Akoh signed a professional contract to play on a team that is in the first division of France's top-tier leagues. And Michael Oguine was selected to train with the Nigerian national team in hopes of making the roster for the FIBA World Cup in China.
