We Flipped For Flapjack From Humane Society of Western Montana
Well, she said she was going to "flip" the script a little bit this visit and she was true to her word.
It was another Take Me Home Tuesday here at the radio stations, sponsored locally by our animal-loving friends at Paul's Pancake Parlor. Janet from the Humane Society of Western Montana usually brings us a cat or a dog waiting for adoption. Not this time. We got to meet Flapjack, an adorable two-year-old guinea pig. Not uncommon for the shelter to have at least a couple of them waiting to be adopted as well as all the dogs and cats.
Flapjack is a beautiful white guinea pig. They typically live 7 or 8 years, so you will have a good long run with him. A little tricky to catch at times, but really friendly and just loves his hay with a few veggies now and then.
DOG IS MY CO-PILOT RETURNING TO MISSOULA
Once again this year, this unique program will be bringing a number of new dogs to the shelter looking for their forever home. Funded in part by Petco, Dog Is My Co-Pilot partners with shelters around the country, including Missoula. Volunteer pilots fly dogs from drastically overcrowded shelters to areas that can better accommodate them. Janet says the Humane Society of Western Montana has the opportunity to select which types of dogs they feel are in highest demand in our area.
We are expecting those dogs to arrive sometime later next week.
EXCITING NEW POST ADOPTION SUPPORT PROGRAM BEING LAUNCHED
The Humane Society of Western Montana and the Bitter Root Humane Association in Hamilton are two of the western Montana shelters who have been announced as beneficiaries of a new program that lends support to those of you who want to adopt a dog or cat, but worry about limited resources to take care of an animal.
According to their joint press release, PetHub and Kinship have partnered to launch an inventive post-adoption support pilot program at multiple regional animal shelters across the United States. Together, they're setting pet adopters up for success by offering 24/7 access to vet support, pet loss prevention services and tools, and expert resources to provide pet parents with peace of mind and help keep dogs and cats healthy, happy, and safe at home.
They are offering pet adopters a special membership discount with access to the above-mentioned resources and much more.
You can contact the Humane Society of Western Montana or the Bitter Root Humane Association to find out more.
