Triple digit temperatures up to 105 are expected in western Montana through Sunday night.

This weekend is going to be a scorcher for most of Montana, and we expect more advisories to kick in for more counties. For the moment, the most western of Montana area s are under Heat Advisories through Sunday evening for triple digit temperatures.

If you're traveling west into Idaho, be advised that most of Idaho has their own Heat Advisories in effect too. It's going to be a VERY hot weekend.

Heat stroke and other heat related medical issues can get very serious, very fast. Take precautions by hydrating and staying out of the sun for the next few days if you can. 100+ temperatures are no joke.

Areas of concern include: Libby, Noxon, Trout Creek, Lolo National Forest, Kootenai National Forest

According to the National Weather Service:

  • A HEAT ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT UNTIL MIDNIGHT SUNDAY NIGHT.
  • WHAT...Dangerously hot conditions. Daytime temperatures 95 to 105 expected at low elevations through Sunday. Overnight temperatures will be in the 60s.
  • WHERE...Highway 2 Kalispell to Libby, Highway 37 Eureka to Libby, Highway 56 Bull Lake Road, Highway 93 Eureka to Whitefish, Evaro Hill, Highway 200 Thompson Falls to Plains, Highway 200 Trout Creek to Heron, and I-90 Lookout Pass to Haugan.
  • WHEN...Until midnight Sunday night.
  • IMPACTS...Hot temperatures may cause heat illnesses to occur.
  • Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.
  • Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances.
  • Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When possible, reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening.
  • Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing when possible.
  • Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location.
  • Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1.
