Black Pearl of The Autobahn

This British registered four wheeled version of Captain Jack Sparrow's Black Pearl ship was clearly menacing enough to merit a boarding party from motorway police in Brunnthal, Germany.

Astonished cops saw the J-registered banger decked out in wooden cladding - complete with a wheelhouse and mast - sailing past other traffic crewed by four men in full Pirates of the Caribbean outfits.

But unlike their movie namesakes, this motley crew - who have not been identified by police - were given a clean bill of health after telling officers they were driving across Europe.

A police spokesman said: "They had a road safety certificate for all of the modifications including the mast and the galley and so we wished them a safe voyage and allowed them to continue on their way."
