Bitterroot College Gets Creative with Annual ‘Maker Fair’
Friday for three hours, the Bitterroot College of the University of Montana will exhibit robots, bouncy rockets and other projects in their annual "Bitterroot Makers Fair." The main part of the event, starting at 5 p.m. May 4, will be projects developed by fifth-grade students from Corvallis Middle School and students from Hamilton's Daly Elementary School. Those projects have been ongoing during the school year with help from Montana SpectrUM Discovery Area and the Bitterroot College. SpectrUM Museum Manager Nick Wethington has been working with Hamilton and Corvallis teachers and librarians during the year.
Also open for the public Friday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. is the Bitterroot FabLab, also at the Hamilton college, with live demonstrations of 3D printing and laser engraving. People who have been partnering with the lab will be talking about career pathways in the valley and high-tech opportunities at the Bitterroot College.
The Bitterroot College is at 9th and Main in Hamilton and offers a large number of courses for local people. Registration forms for upcoming classes will be available at the office during the Maker Fair.
