Another Out-of-Season Poached Montana Game Animal Left to Waste
As more hunting seasons get underway, more and more outdoor enthusiasts are starting to take to the field.
And it continues to be too bad that some of them are people (let's not call them hunters) that you really wish were never in the field to begin with. In-season or not, these are stories you hear about nearly year-round. Spring, summer, fall or winter, they never cease to agitate all those Montana hunters who always have and always will do it the right way.
Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks tells us that that they are seeking help trying to find the person or people responsible for killing and abandoning a pronghorn buck on a block management area in Teton County, 10 miles from the town of Dutton.
The antelope was killed with a small-caliber bullet and left at the site. In other words, killed with a firearm during archery season.
It's a long shot to be sure this far away in western Montana, but you never know when some seemingly obscure detail or networking might become a good lead. People are asked to contact Game Warden Asher Margotat, 406-468-8204, or simply submit information to the Montana Tip Mont website. You may be eligible for a $1,000 cash reward.
A LITTLE UPBEAT MONTANA FISHING NEWS
We didn't want this post to end on a downer, so here's a tidbit from the Fall Mack Days lake trout fishing tourney on Flathead Lake. Three weeks into the 9-week event, a total of 6,723 lake trout entries have been entered so far in the event.
This year's tagged fish worth $10,000 has yet to be caught. They have named this tournament's big money fish "Johnny Cash."
There are no entry fees and you can fish Fall Mack Days as much or as little as you want. Their tourney website is once again in operation, so you can pay it a visit for more information.
