The Missoula County Attorney’s Office charged nine new complaints this past week. However, County Attorney Kirsten Pabst says they were in the process of charging four more complaints Friday morning. She went on to explain the types of crimes that occurred.

“Only one of those, thankfully, was a crime against a person,” Pabst said. “That involved a strangulation partner or family member assault. There were two child endangerment type cases. One was charged as felony child endangerment that involved a DUI and a 4-year-old was on board. There was an additional endangering the welfare of children charge that involved exposure to methamphetamine.”

In that particular case, Pabst says a baby and a toddler were in a home that had a drug use area. Further investigation is being done to determine the amount of exposure the children experienced. In one case, a defendant was charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of heroin, escape and resisting arrest.

“The officer ran a car plate, which returned to the defendant who had an outstanding probation warrant,” said Pabst. “The officer attempted a traffic stop, which resulted in a car chase. The car stopped and the defendant allegedly got out and ran. He was tackled and tased. There was methamphetamine on the ground where he landed. He was taken to the hospital. When he got up, there was a heroin container on the bed where he had been.”

On Friday, Pabst says her office was looking at a burglary, an assault with a weapon, criminal possession of dangerous drugs with intent to distribute, and a felony DUI.
