Sending kids off to school for the very first time begins officially on April 8, with kindergarten registration at Missoula County Public Schools.

What started out as an act of compassion has turned into a heated controversy.

Recently a friend posted this video on Facebook. I’m usually picky about what videos I watch that people post, otherwise I would be watching videos all day. I would never get any work done. However, this video intrigued me.

I always love when summer is here and school ends until fall. My kids love it too. There is always so much anticipation as to what the summer will bring. Where will we go on vacation? Who will we see? What exciting things will happen?

It was report time card last week at my boys’ school. This usually goes pretty well in our house, since two of my boys still are in the grade levels that hand out S, S+, S- and N. My oldest son, however, has been in a grade for the past couple years that doles out A, B, C, D and F.

Today, Feb. 28, House Bill 155 was signed into law by Governor Steve Bullock. The bill updates laws concerning school buses.

Missoula Police received a report Tuesday morning that as a 10 year-old girl was walking to the Rattlesnake Elementary School, an unidentified man offered her a ride. She ignored him and kept walking. It was exactly the right thing to do.

Like most people, I have had many “last days of school” in my lifetime, from kindergarten all the way through college.
