I always love when summer is here and school ends until fall. My kids love it too. There is always so much anticipation as to what the summer will bring. Where will we go on vacation? Who will we see? What exciting things will happen?

However, by the end of the summer, I am ready for school to start. The freedom that summer brought has turned into kids fighting and the constant complaints of boredom and lack of structure makes a parent yearn for school days. Here is a list of the reasons why I am excited that school is finally almost here again.

A normal schedule - I love summer, but I really love having a set schedule and knowing how to plan around it. It makes life much easier. The great thing about summer is that there is no schedule and anything goes, but that is also the bad thing about it too.

Nobody is bored - I get so tired of my kids telling me they’re bored. I could suggest 100 things for them to do in the summer, and none of them sounds like fun. They’re always bored, even if they just got done jumping out of a plane.

Everyone is exhausted - This is the good kind of exhausted. Everyone is so busy learning and then playing sports that they are both physically and mentally exhausted. They sleep like babies.

Getting the kids away from each other - If your kids are like mine, then they are sick of each other by now. They have spent the last couple of months spending all their waking hours with each other. This is a little too much sibling love. My boys love each other, but spending that much quality time together is making them at each other's throats. Thank goodness for school and their friends.
