It's always heartbreaking around the holidays when you see the stories of families and individuals that are in need. But on the other side of things - it's great to see the community come together to help others when they need it most.

It can be a bit overwhelming with the amount of organizations that are asking for donations this time of year. The food bank has been leaning on the community to give turkeys the last week, I saw the Salvation Army bell ringers outside the grocery store for the first time today, and even here in our building full of radio stations we're asking you to give with our yearly KYSSMAS For Kids. **I guess this would be the time to mention that your donations to KYSSMAS stay local and help us provide gifts for children in Western Montana that would otherwise go without for Christmas. You can donate online now through December4."**

It goes without saying that nobody can give to every group that asks for help this time of year. Sometimes you just have to find the right cause that speaks to you and inspires you to help. I always like wish trees because you're not making a blind donation where you never see the money put to use. I like being able to actually provide the gift that's being requested and know that somebody is getting exactly what they want.

Southgate Mall has their Wish Tree that runs from November 27 to December 18. Get the details on the Facebook event page here.

Help us bring Christmas cheer to children, teens, seniors and pets in need around Missoula. Visit Guest Services and take a tag off the tree. Please return all unwrapped gifts by December 18. A partnership with: Missoula County Child & Family Services, Home Instead Senior Care, and The Humane Society of Western Montana.
