It's Hamilton's own version of a Christmas "Light Fight" with the less combative title of "Community Christmas Decorating Contest." Mayor Dominic Farrenkopf outlined the brief instructions recently for those who'd like to enter their lawn and home displays in the City of Hamilton's contest.

First of all, the home must be inside the Hamilton city limits and you'll need to fill out an official entry form - available at Hamilton's City Hall at 223 South 2nd Street or online at the City of Hamilton's official website. The entries must be in by December 17th. The judging will take place between December 17 and December 20, with the winner announced at the regular Hamilton City Council meeting on December 21.

By the way, if you notice a display in town that you think is outstanding, you can nominate it, even if it's not your creation. Just get an official entry form, mark the line that asks if the display is yours, make sure you give a good address, and enter it. Already, the displays have been popping up all over, even on the roof of the Bitterroot Aquatic Center.

The judges will be the the current Hamilton City Council - Jenny West, Claire Kemp, Kristi Bielski, Robin Pruitt, Rod Pogachar and Dan Mitchell - and Mayor Farrenkopf.
