As we patiently await the arrival of season 4 of the hit television series "Yellowstone." The creators are already in the works of a prequel to the massive hit show. You may have witnessed a short teaser trailer during this past Sunday's football game. The short 10 second clip shows a sign in a blizzard that reads "Y:1883."

Here is what we know so far.

The prequel is going to be streaming on Paramount+, (which is formally known as CBS All Access.) Which according to Deadline.com will feature new original programming.

"with new originals stemming from The Godfather and SpongeBob SquarePants and a marquee series coming from Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan."

There will most likely be no overlap of characters from the Yellowstone series, as it takes place more than 100 years before the current show.

No casting has been announced yet. But, don't expect any Kevin Costner cameos.

The prequel is part of the 5 year contract that  Taylor Sheridan signed with Paramount.

We feel it is safe to assume that some filming will take place, in Montana. But, that is not confirmed.

The 1883 timeline suggest the story probably will coincide with the founding of the Dutton Ranch and homesteading. So expect run ins with wolves, bears, outlaws and native Americans.

No premiere date has been announced for the show. But the teaser trailer does suggest it will happen in 2021. So, not only do we have an tentatively scheduled release of season 4 of Yellowstone this June or July 2021. But, we will hopefully have the prequel series to hold us over until season 5.
