Will the KFC Chicken Sandwich Come to Missoula?

Remember when Popeyes rolled out their new chicken sandwich to compete against Chik-fil-A and the world went bonkers? It was crazy! They had ridiculously long lines, people were fighting, I think I remember a story about someone getting stabbed, and then Popeyes had to hit pause because the sandwiches were so popular that locations started to run out and needed time to restock.

I didn't think about it at the time the "chicken wars" were raging on......but where was KFC when chicken sandwiches were making all that noise? For some reason KFC has waited a full year later to introduce their KFC Chicken Sandwich. Yep, that's actually the exciting name they chose to roll with....the KFC Chicken Sandwich.

I will say that it does look pretty delicious, while also looking EXACTLY like the Popeyes version.

I love Chick-fil-A. If we had a location I would pick their sandwiches as a first choice. But, since we don't have one locally, I've had the Popeyes version a few times. It's good. Not, go all crazy and fight someone in a dispute while waiting in line type of good, but still good. It sounds like KFC recognizes the fact that other places are doing it better when it comes to chicken sandwiches. KFC's chief marketing officer says, "We wanted a chicken sandwich that really lives up to our legacy as the fried chicken experts and, let's face it, ours wasn't the one to beat."

What will KFC's version bring to the table? Will we ever know? Right now, they're just testing the sandwiches in select stores in Florida. There's on word on when the sandwich might go on sale nationwide and tickle our taste buds right here in Missoula. The good news is by the time it's available here we might be able to stand in lines again. Make it happen, Colonel.
