Which City Should Be Missoula's "Portal Partner"?

Have you seen the new art exhibit featured in New York and Dublin, Ireland? It's a large "portal" that can bring the two cities together through a grand FaceTime-like call.

It sounds like a fun and family-friendly idea, but the citizens of NYC and Dublin had other ideas. They decided to start flashing their private parts, holding up their phones playing pornographic films and other disturbing videos. It got so out of hand that they already had to shut it down temporarily.

This is why we can't have nice things.

Now that this portal links New York and Dublin, I got to thinking about which cities Missoula could connect to. We could place this portal in Caras Park and hopefully, you guys wouldn't be disgusting creatures like the New Yorkers.

Portland, Oregon

Portland isn't too far, but it would be fun to check in on our fellow weird city on the coast.

Palmerston North, New Zealand

We have to open up a portal with our sister city. I mean, they celebrate Missoula Day every year... how can we not connect with them? Population: 88,300. Fun fact: The New Zealand Rugby Museum is located in Palmerston North.

Neckargemund, Germany

Sister city number two. We can check in on all the brats and kraut festivals, or whatever else happens in Germany. Population: 13,576. Fun fact: It means the confluence of the Neckar River

Kumamoto, Japan

Sister city/state number three. Population: 740,822. Fun fact: It's the sister state of Montana and is a sister city to San Antonio, Texas.

Bern, Switzerland

Bern is known as "The City of Bears" and the capital of Switzerland. Us Griz fans have to connect with The City of Bears. Population: 133,115

Churchill, Manitoba, Canada

If we're including The City of Bears then we need to include the "Polar Bear Capital of the World." I don't think we'll see any people though. It might be only bears, but that would be pretty cool still. Population: 899
