If ever there was a sign of a changing entertainment culture, it's an empire that went from over 9,000 stores to one in less than 35 years.

AP tells us that the Blockbuster Video Rental Store in Perth, Australia will be closing its doors later this month. That leaves just one Blockbuster in the world still open.

If you're feeling nostalgic, you can take a road trip to Bend, Oregon this spring or summer. Although the trend would suggest you might want to go sooner than later. Bend now has the distinction of being the last remaining Blockbuster.

At one point Blockbuster, which started in Dallas in 1985, had over 9,000 stores in the world, including Missoula. As other streaming movie services and rental kiosks like Redbox began to emerge, Blockbuster declared bankruptcy in 2010 and closed all corporate stores in 2014.

Hang in there, Bend, Oregon. If I ever hook my old VCR back up, I'll come visit.
