Tell me if you've heard this before: people aren't happy with home prices in Montana. Shocking isn't it? It's a hot topic with Montanans. The out-of-staters rolling in and buying up the land and houses completely screwing over us folks attempting to purchase a house soon.

I'm just kidding. There's no way I can ever afford a house working in radio and sports. It's apartments for this guy.

Back in January, my colleague Ashley Warren wrote about how Montana was one of the most expensive places to buy a house. It wasn't based solely on median home prices, but also incorporated factors such as median income and estimated mortgage payments. That information was derived from Redfin, but there's newer information from July 2024 that shows Montana median home prices SPIKED in a big way.

According to this map, the information stems from the National Association of Realtors, Montana's median home price is a whopping 672 thousand dollarsBy god... is that real? I did some digging to the validity of these numbers. I couldn't find a definitive Montana median house price, but I found Missoula, Gallatin and Flathead county numbers. They are high... really high.

According to the Missoula Realtors Association, the median price in Missoula County is up to 560 thousand dollars. Counties like Granite, Mineral and Sanders are in the 350-375 thousand dollars range. The real kickers are Gallatin and Flathead counties. KBZK reported median prices bumping up against 750 thousand dollars in April. Rocket Mortgage reported Flathead County was at 637 thousand dollars.

That is... not good. Again, you don't need to hear this again. I'll just shut up now.
