Tiny Surprises At Daly Mansion Christmas
Hamilton's Daly Mansion is festively decorated for the annual holiday tours again this year, but it's the smaller additions that will deserve your attention as you wander on a stroll through all three floors of the historic building.
The mansion's volunteers have been finding historic objects that are on display in corners of the rooms (photos below). And, there are displays explaining holiday tales and folklore that are worth a look. A diorama on the second floor landing will take you back into the past. And there's more. The tour hours are Noon until 4 p.m. on the weekdays - Monday through Friday, with special presentations on Saturdays.
Saturday, December 11, the Bitterroot Valley Chorus will present a Christmas Concert at 4:30 p.m., followed by a special evening tour of the mansion at 6 p.m. The subdued lighting provides a cozy feeling at night. Plus, there will be hot chocolate and a holiday treat.
Then, on the final day of the tours, December 18, The Bitterroot Ragtime Society will have a jolly set of music at 11 a.m. and the Bitterroot Community Band will play your Christmas favorites at 2 p.m. The admission charge for the holiday tours is $10 for adults and $5 for the youngsters.
The Daly Mansion Preservation Trust thanks the volunteers for all their work in getting the building in the holiday spirit. After the holiday tours, the mansion is closed during the winter, except for special group reservations. The number is 406 363-6004. Leave a message and the staff will return your call.
