Thrillist Highlights Missoula Brewery’s Eco-Friendly Packaging
Tons of breweries all over the world have been doing their part to reduce their carbon footprint and help out the environment, and recently, Thrillist highlighted a bunch of them that are going above and beyond in an article called "These Breweries Are Taking Eco-Friendly Packaging To The Next Level."
Throughout the article, they highlight breweries and talk to brewers from all over the world and some of the extraordinary strides they're making for the environment - and then, at the end, they toss in a few more names that they didn't have time to work into the full article. And as I was going through, who did I spot but Missoula's very own Bayern Brewing!
Bayern Brewing is specifically called out for its EcoLeague Program, which has been going strong for over 10 years now. If you're not familiar, EcoLeague members pay a three dollar deposit and get a Bayern EcoPack in return, which you can fill with 24 refillable glass bottles - when you return it, you get five cents back for each bottle and ten cents for each cardboard carrier. And then, the process keeps repeating itself.
It's pretty cool to see Bayern Brewing in the spotlight like this, along with other big names like Straub Brewery in Pennsylvania or Allagash Brewing in Maine. Hopefully an article like this will inspire more breweries around the country to follow their example.
Are you an EcoLeague member at Bayern Brewing? Do you think more breweries (or other organizations) should follow their lead?
