Whether you fish it, float it, enjoy its scenery or just care about it, here's hoping that the desire to help a popular river runs through you.

For those who might not know, there is a Blackfoot Home and Community Club, dedicated to keeping the Blackfoot River clean and beautiful. No doubt there can be a lot of challenges and frustrations when your "back yard" is the playground for so many.

We've all seen it. Trash left behind in the water and shoreline by careless floaters and anglers. Or objects of all shapes and sizes that were discarded and gradually made their way downstream. Whatever the case, it's debris that can be dangerous, unhealthy, environmentally harmful, or an eyesore.

For 19 years, the concerned members of the Blackfoot Home and Community Club have been diligently doing their part to make the Blackfoot River a better place. But they can't do it all themselves.

Here is an all-hands-on-deck invitation to adults and kids to join them for their annual Blackfoot River Cleanup Day, this Saturday, July 30, from 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Volunteer headquarters are at Johnsrud Park, just off Highway 200 between mile markers 11 and 12.  With temperatures expected to hover near 100, can you think of a better place to be than on or in the river?

The club would love to have anyone who wants to dive, raft or snorkel to sign in at 8:00 a.m. All who want to walk, wade or float should sign up at 9:00. They will provide grab and go snacks for volunteers all day.

If this sounds like a cause you'd like to join this Saturday, just show up and be ready to take to the water, or at least the shore. If you have any questions, you are welcome to call 406-244-6156.
