Opening his press conference in Helena on Friday, Montana Governor Greg Gianforte had scathing words for officials in Washington. D.C. who sent National Guard troops out of federal buildings and into unheated parking garages, leading him to order Montana’s troops home immediately.

Governor Steve Bullock was in Missoula on Tuesday to visit two companies housed at MonTec; FYR Diagnostics and Inimmune, that are working on ways to find a vaccine for COVID 19.

The Missoula County Office of Emergency Management made an emergency declaration at the end of April in anticipation of the high waters they knew would be coming.

Around 60 Montana Air National Guard units were expected to prepare for work on the Lolo Peak Fire near Missoula today, August 28, but changing conditions on the fire have led to a change in plans.

A large number of National Guard members are currently working on fires in Montana and the numbers are likely to increase.

About 110 Montana National Guard soldiers are being deployed to help firefighting efforts in western Montana. This is the first fire related deployment of 2013.

That is why we are making it our goal to send a holiday care package to our recently deployed National Guard unit in Afghanistan
