Early Thursday morning, a University of Montana forestry student was injured in a chainsaw accident while building a structure for the upcoming Forester's Ball.
On September 8, 1914, the University of Montana School of Forestry opened with 25 students and one degree program. It has since grown to offer five undergraduate degrees, four academic minors, and three doctoral programs serving nearly 1,000 students.
The much-anticipated 96th annual Foresters' Ball is almost upon us! Foresters' Ball is a long-standing tradition by the forestry department at The University of Montana designed to raise money for scholarships. Memorable features include an 1800s logging town built in the Adams Center, a live country band and a plethora of plaid flannel shirts.
Chainsaws were roaring Saturday for the traditional pole run, as University of Montana students began preparations for the 96th annual Foresters' Ball, scheduled for March 22 and March 23 in 2013.
About 140 students were kicked out of this year's Foresters' Ball, which was held in the Adams Center at The University of Montana, for being intoxicated and unruly.
The event, which was just held for the 95th year Feb. 3 and Feb. 4, is a fundraiser for scholarships for UM's forestry department students...
