Splash Montana Almost Ready to Open for the Season
It's funny how a couple days can change your perspective. A few days ago we were in the 80's and the thought of outdoor swimming didn't seem so crazy as my kids were running through the sprinkler. Today we're expecting a high in the 40's as I read the news about Splash Montana gearing up to open for the season. But the good news is warmer days will be here soon - and the lazy river, water slides, swim lessons and birthday parties will be back in action to help Missoulians beat the summer heat.
As they get ready to open for the season, Splash Montana will be able to loosen some restrictions that were put in place because of COVID last year. This year, the waterpark plans to allow 800 people in both the water park and lap pool areas.....and hold a pair of daily four-hour sessions.
A story from KPAX has thoughts on the increased capacity from Missoula Parks and Rec Aquatic Manager Eric Seagrave: "I think with 800 we’ll remove the stress of fighting for a space, but you’ll still have that overall environment of feeling like you’re not all on top of each other, so it’s probably going to work out to be perfect."
The article goes on to say that the lap pool will be the first to open - doing so over Memorial Day weekend - and the rest of the park opens the first weekend that county school students are out for the summer.

We saw a recent story about how the different pools in Missoula are going through a bit of a lifeguard shortage. If you're interested, here's how to apply.
