Every year, Shakespeare fans await the arrival of Montana Shakespeare in the Parks in Hamilton. The production Thursday, August 22, this year is "Henry IV-Part One." The outdoor performance will be at the Large Lawn of Sapphire Lutheran Homes on North 10th Street, starting at 6 p.m. The performance is free to the public, and you are invited to bring blankets and lawn chairs to make yourself comfortable for the classic play, with the usual time-traveling twists that the MSU-sponsored troupe brings to the presentation. The setting is World War I, but the words are from Shakespeare in a fight for the throne and a son trying to live up to his father's expectations. Though a drama, the plot includes one of the Bard's most popular comic characters, Sir John Falstaff.

The other presentation this summer is The Merry Wives of Windsor. That comedy will be at the UM Oval in Missoula August 26, with Henry IV August 27, both at 6 p.m. The 10 actors travel over 7,000 miles during the summer and has expanded to five states - Montana, North Dakota, Idaho, Wyoming and Washington. Henry IV Part 1 is directed by Kevin Asselin.
