We suffered through a pretty bad smoke season this year in Western Montana.

Recently, in a compilation of satellite images to show how hurricanes developed this year, the amount of forest fire smoke is evident.

The animation was produced by a number of agencies including NASA and shows the wind activity shared by Europe, Africa and North and South America.

The blue is sea salt, the brown is dust and the white is smoke. The animation stitches together observations during hurricane season (and forest fire season).

The hurricane views are fascinating, but watch the playback again. This time, notice the white smoke dominating the Northwest. Spooky.
