Mail has been reported missing in rural areas south of Hamilton, most recently in the Roaring Lion area, according to the Hamilton USPS Postmaster. The reports were given more importance when some lost mail and packages meant for areas near Hamilton were found in a ditch near Victor. The Ravalli County Sheriff's Office was notified this week, according to postal officials.

Rural mailboxes can be a target for thefts and the post office is advising those on rural routes to check for deliveries daily, preferably near the time postal carriers deliver the mail. And if you are out of town for a time, make sure you put your mail on hold by calling your local post office.
