It's been a rough couple of years for live theater in the U.S. That includes the Hamilton Playhouse. The local community theater cancelled shows at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic and also cancelled almost all of the 2021 shows, except for outdoor performances on the grounds of the Daly Mansion this past summer.

A three-weekend sale of outfits from an overcrowded costume shop brought in a nice bit of pocket change and this year's federal relief money also helped pay the monthly bills, but no income from any live performances on the stage on the west side of Hamilton.

Until next month.

It's not a play, but a music revue of 15 songs made popular by Broadway and other theater venues over the years. "All Together Now" is part of a nationwide effort to get audiences back into theaters. Hamilton Players director denise rose said the organization Music Theater International has paid all the copyright and performances fees for local theaters to perform almost 20 songs from Broadway and off-Broadway. And the Hamilton Players have been preparing for four shows in one weekend - November 12-14.

The performers are familiar faces to the Bitterroot Valley audiences - Tasha Fain (who is also directing the music), Mara Luther, Austin Athman, Reagan Farley, Sasha Brooks, Kay Ownbey, Arthur Ryan and Max Naidl. The performers will sing in solos and with the whole company during the evening.

The songs include some all-time popular favorites from the past and more recently. The tunes include Pure Imagination, I Dreamed A Dream, Take a Chance on Me, Wouldn't It Be Loverly and Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious (I think that's even the correct spelling).

According to denise, there will be social distancing requirements and masking in the audience. If you get tickets for a group, they will be seated together. Otherwise, there will be empty seats between audience members. That, of course, means there will be fewer tickets available each night, so order early.

The shows will November 12 at 8 p.m., Nov. 13 at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. and Nov. 14 at 2 p.m.For more information and buy the $18 tickets, check their site or call Fridays from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Hamilton Playhouse 406 375-9050.
