Two University of Montana students are planning to host a pro-Trump rally in one of the bluest districts in Montana. Sophomore University of Montana Student Cayden Sant explains the motivation behind the “Support Our President March” set to occur on campus this Saturday.

"I don't think this has ever really had to be done before: having to rally to support your president, usually the President does get support, but in today's world he gets a lot of hate, a lot of lash back and all that," Sant said. "We are trying to preach not-hate, love and peace, and support for our president which we think is doing great things for our country."

The march is the brainchild of Sant and another UM Sophomore, Jack Burns, they say they were motivated to conduct a rally after watching the national vitriol over the confirmation of Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh. Burns says he thinks conservatives in Missoula are afraid to host marches because of the outrage on the left, and says he expects to see "resistance" at the rally. He's hoping to see a lot more support though.

"A lot of people, especially being in this leftist of a community maybe will feel alone and that they are like one of the only ones out there. We want people to have a sense of community as much as this is a leftist city we want people to feel like 'ok, I'm not the only one that's voting for Trump,' or 'I'm not the only one that feels this way about Trump.' There's a lot more people than you would assume, and we are just trying to get that community feel."

Missoula was one of just six Montana counties where a majority of the vote went to Hillary Clinton instead of Trump in 2016. The rally is set to occur at noon at the U.M. Oval, this Saturday October 13. Sant and Burns say they have already secured permission from authorities for the rally.
