The U.S. Forest Service has asked us to help spread the word about vandalism in one of Missoula's favorite playgrounds.

Several acts of vandalism have recently occurred in the Pattee Canyon area on the Missoula Ranger District. The incidents are under investigation. If you have any information that might help with the case, please call 406-329-1025.

National Forests belong to us all, and we encourage everyone to recreate responsibly. Please practice stewardship and care for the places you love to play.

In other Montana outdoor news, there is still time for kids to create their best art, and for everyone to submit their best photos for the Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks annual fishing regulation photo and kids’ art contest. Winners will see their work on the front and back cover of the 2021 fishing regulation booklets. Entry deadline is October 16.

Kids 12 and younger are invited to submit a colored drawing of a fish that lives in Montana. All the information for entering is located here.

Finally, quick congratulations to a couple of Montana anglers who had respectable showings during the National Walleye Tour's recent stop in Garrison, ND. Montana anglers represented both Pro-Angler and Co-Angler categories. Our pal Brian Olson of the Havre and Fort Peck areas did a great job in the Co-Angler category. finishing 33rd on day one with 16lbs of walleye. On the second day, Brian had another good performance landing roughly 17lbs of walleye and finishing the tournament 17th overall.

Ken Schmidt of Glasgow also had a great showing in the Pro-Angler tournament. Ken landed nearly 18lbs of walleye and a first day place of 22nd. Day 2 Ken landed just over 17lbs and got a overall 24th place out of 123 pro anglers.
