Earlier this week, NASA celebrated Halloween with some spooky space photos on their Facebook page. This one is from October 2014 and shows our Sun with the visage of a jack o'lantern. The glowing eyes and mouth are active regions and are shown by combining two different light filters from the solar observation lenses. It's almost too spooky when you realize how big the Sun is. By the way, NASA has posted a few more ghostly images from deep space on their sites this week, just in time for Halloween.
