Western Montana boaters and anglers are starting to get spring fever, ready to hit one of their favorite spots, Flathead Lake.

Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks is not renewing its lease with the Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation for the Elmo Fishing Access Site on Flathead Lake. Instead, FWP is focusing its recreation management efforts on the Big Arm Unit of Flathead Lake State Park, which is nearby.

The access site at Elmo is closed. The lease DNRC had with FWP expired Feb. 29. The Elmo Fishing Access Site is located near the town of Elmo on the west shore of Flathead Lake.

FWP and DNRC are working to finalize an easement nearby at the Big Arm Unit of Flathead Lake State Park that will ensure recreation at the site into perpetuity.

Questions about the site can be directed to the DNRC Kalispell Regional Office, 406-751-2241.
