Last Thursday, the Missoula Police Department received information regarding the AMBER alert out of the state of North Carolina for 8-month-old John Eastlack.

NBC Montana reports that on Friday police learned the boy's biological parents -- who kidnapped him from social services -- may be headed to Missoula.

The Missoula Police Department located a vehicle, matching the description from the AMBER alert around 3 a.m. Sunday morning at the Howard Johnson hotel on Brooks Street.

The boy's biological father, Chad Eastlack, was arrested for outstanding warrants from the state of North Carolina. Workers at the hotel say Eastlack checked in around 3 p.m. Saturday afternoon.

"There was some information in the original AMBER alert that suggested that they may be heading to the Missoula area," said Travis Welsh of the Missoula Police Department. "Officers began looking at parking lots around the city at various hotels where they might stay."

The young boy has been taken under the supervision of Child Protective Services in Missoula.

The next steps for this investigation will involve the Missoula Police Department working with law enforcement in North Carolina regarding the extraditing process.
