There's been significant discussion regarding Missoula traffic lights over the last few months. The city is in the process of revamping its traffic light system, but that can't come fast enough for Missoulians. One individual took to the Missoula Reddit page to rant about how bad the traffic light system is.

The user deleted the original post, but the title was "The lights in this town are a f****** joke," so you can probably decipher what they were getting at.

New traffic lights installed in Missoula

I was driving on Orange Street, headed toward downtown the other day, and saw that the traffic lights at Orange and Wyoming were up and operational.

It seems to be a success so far. Traffic on Orange Street wasn't stopped for too long, but long enough for cars turning off of Wyoming to actually, you know, turn off of Wyoming. That used to be a brutal intersection if you were on Wyoming Street. Especially if you were turning left... WOOF.

Where do we need more traffic lights in Missoula?

Is there another location in town that needs a traffic light? Does Reserve Street need another light? I don't think there's anything that can fix horrible, god awful, wretched, shoot-it-into-the-sun Reserve Street.

How about a train traffic light? Can we install a stoplight for the train when it moves over Greenough Drive? Far too often, I get stuck waiting for the train, trying to get home or go to work.

Here are some legitimate recommendations:

  • "Clinton at the interchange! - Dennis K.
  • "I think maybe river road and reserve st." -Michael T.
  • "Coming out of airport and trying to turn left" - Gisele E.
