Netflix Just Cancelled Its Best Show, And I Am Very Upset

I don't understand Netflix sometimes. The streaming service juggernaut seems to have enough money to produce approximately 7 billion new shows and movies every week. Some of them are great! A lot of them aren't. Usually, critical acclaim ensures a Netflix original will stick around for a while. In this case, it didn't help: Netflix has cancelled American Vandal.

For those unfamiliar, American Vandal is a comedic mystery show in the vein of true-crime documentaries like Making A Murderer and Serial - the twist being that it centers on high schoolers, and the crimes are extremely vulgar and silly. Season two, which just debuted last month, focused on a criminal named "The Turd Burglar," for example. The show was very funny, but it was amazing how smart it was, how well it imitated the true-crime genre, and how compelling it was able to make its central mysteries.

But it seems like Netflix has been cleaning house lately. Long-running shows like House of Cards and Orange is the New Black are coming to an end, and they also just cancelled a few of their Marvel shows, Iron Fist and Luke Cage. It's a bummer that a show as good as American Vandal fell prey to the same fate, but at least we've still got Netflix's other best show, Bojack Horseman. For now, anyway.
