It's that time of the year when all our lovely grandmas fire up the oven to bake all sorts of holiday treats and goodies. It's also the time of year when you shouldn't feel guilty for overeating and increasing your sugar intake to 10x the recommended limit. On top of raising your drinking intake to 15x your normal amount. I mean, how else are we expected to get through those loud, obnoxious, slightly irritating family get-togethers?

Instead of grandma helping out, maybe you're in the mood to bake some tasty sweets. The website Unscrambler released findings of Google search data that "reveals the top trending Christmas cookies in every U.S. state." One by one they looked at states and found Montana's most searched cookie to be...

Peppermint Christmas Cookies

I'm not a huge peppermint fan in foods outside of my toothpaste, although my toothpaste isn't food, but I changed my mind after searching peppermint cookie recipes. The top three suggested recipes from Google were:

1) Chewy Double Chocolate Peppermint cookies (They look great)

2) White Chocolate Peppermint Cookies (These look great, too)

3) Chocolate Peppermint Cookies (These might look the best)

Peppermint Cookies still won't be my top choice for Christmas cookies, but Montana isn't alone. Wyoming, Indiana, New York and Oregon join Montana as the frontrunners for Peppermint Cookies, which is an interesting combination of states. The group consists of a couple of mountain states, a Northwest state, a Midwest state and a Northeast.

Hawai'i, Mississippi, North Dakota and West Virginia have it right to select Christmas Sugar Cookies.  A couple of states have peanut butter varieties and, of course, you can't forget about gingerbread cookies.
