Remember Missoula Appearing On The “Live PD” TV Show? Let’s Bring It Back

Ok, those are the lyrics to the show Cops, performed by Inner Circle. It's not the show we're discussing today - Live PD, but you get the point. Were you a fan of those cop shows where police officers chase down trashy criminals? They aren't my favorite by any means, but it reminds me of when I was a kid watching TV at midnight. Cop shows were always on late at night teaching me a crucial lesson: Don't be a criminal.

But I haven't watched those shows in eons, so it was very surprising to see my YouTube recommendations populated by A&E's Live PD. It was a compilation of the "Most Viewed Moments From Missoula County, Montana" in the show.

The first case involves a drunk guy who gestured towards a 12-year-old boy that he was going to hit him... Just like a normal person does. It appears the incident occurred at the intersection of Higgins and Front. Buddy Boy gets cited for disorderly conduct and is taken off the streets.

Another video involves a traffic stop where the driver gets awfully lippy with the officer. The driver snidely asks the officer "So you going to take me to jail?" and says "Let me blow a sobriety test for you and I'll sue your dumbass." To the cop's credit, he keeps the levelest of heads and nothing escalates.

My favorite part is the last segment. A dude is taking his mini horse on a stroll through town. There's no crime or snarky attitude. Just a dude walking his mini horse. We love it.

We should create a Missoula-specific Live PD. With the drug-related, and drinking and driving crime in town, we could make some very entertaining television. I mean, it would be brain-rotting television just like The Bachelor, or Love Island, but it would be local. And we love local.

Actually, here's a better idea: we make a Missoula edition of Love Island. Book that million-dollar idea.
