At around 11:00 on Monday night, Missoula police initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle near the intersection of West Broadway and Toole Avenue. The officer identified the driver as 31-year-old Brian Kuntz and he discovered that Kuntz was driving with a suspended license. Police Public Information Officer Travis Welsh explains.

“He also discovered that Mr. Kuntz had an extraditable warrant out of the City of Bozeman,” Welsh said. “He identified the passenger as 22-year-old Jeramiah Gohde. He learned that Mr. Gohde had warrants totaling approximately $100,000 in regard to drug activity.”

According to Welsh, both men were placed under arrest. The officers developed a suspicion that the two were currently engaged in drug activity and they asked a K9 team to assist in the investigation.

“The K9 responded and added to their suspicion that there was drug activity occurring that involved these two individuals,” Welsh said. “The vehicle was subsequently seized pending a search warrant. Both males were transported to the jail where Kuntz was found to be in possession of a substance that was later determined to be methamphetamine.”

According to court documents, a search of the vehicle revealed almost 14 grams of heroin, approximately 40 grams of methamphetamine, and multiple baggies. Gohde and Kuntz are both being held for their outstanding warrants and drug related offenses. Gohde is being charged with two counts of criminal possession of dangerous drugs with intent to distribute.
