MPD Find Man Sleeping in a Car, Arrest Him for Having Meth and Heroin
At around 12:15 a.m. Thursday, someone called Missoula police and said a male was slumped over the wheel of a vehicle in the 5000 block of North Reserve Street. The officers located the vehicle and saw a male who appeared to be sleeping in the driver’s seat of the car. According to Police Public Information Officer Travis Welsh, the car was running.
“The officers knocked on the window, spoke to the man, and eventually got him to wake up,” Welsh said. “He initially had trouble responding to their instructions, but he eventually opened the door and spoke to officers. While he was doing so, the officers made observations of the vehicle that led them to believe he may have been engaged in drug activity.”
Welsh says the driver gave officers consent to seize some items that were in the vehicle.
“That gave them probable cause to get a search warrant for the individual’s vehicle and the vehicle was seized,” Welsh said. “He was placed under arrest for possession of dangerous drugs and paraphernalia. A search warrant was carried out on the car and other items of criminal activity were located. The male is identified as 36-year-old Jamie Jimenez and he is from Idaho Falls.”
During a search of the car, officers discovered a small amount of methamphetamine and heroin. Mr. Jimenez is currently being held for felony criminal possession of dangerous drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia.
