There's a point of pride that comes with living in the Treasure State. We've written about it so many times our fingerprints look more like an outline of the state more than a nice swirly pattern. What items make a Montana home truly Montanan? If you ask 100 people you're likely to get 100 different answers, and that's exactly what we did.

I love this stuff. If it's edible, you can put Alpine Touch on it. Pork chops, steaks, salads, venison...the taste and smell are unmistakably Montanan (and it was developed by one of our own as well!)

Can't argue with this. Hunting season in Montana is precious to us, and plenty of people in the comments mentioned their freezers were already stacked with venison, beef and fish.

Snow Shovel

Only the completely oblivious are unaware that we deal with a lot of snow in Montana. A snow shovel is absolutely necessary, in fact Missoula Municipal Code MMC 12.16.30 requires homeowners to keep their sidewalks clear of snow and ice.

Keeping Warm

When the temperatures drop, consider yourself lucky if you can afford to run your heater all winter long. Sure, there's fireplaces and wood-burning stoves but the best way to supplement your warmth is with quilts, blankets and jackets. A real Montanan is sure to have plenty tucked away for when they need them.
