Very sad news was released Tuesday by the University of Montana Lady Griz basketball program.

Senior Kayleigh Valley, who most likely would have named the Big Sky Conference preseason player of the year next week, has been lost for the entire season. Kayleigh suffered a season-ending ACL injury during Monday's practice.

Valley has been a two-year starter for the Lady Griz. Last season she led the conference in scoring at over 21 points per game, was a unanimous first-team all-conference player and possesses an incredible overall skill set of rebounding, passing and defending.

It is a huge loss for the team, and our thoughts are with Kayleigh for a successful and complete rehab journey. She is a terrific young student-athlete and represents the University of Montana well. She will still have a year of eligibility should she choose to move forward with her Lady Griz career in 2017-18.
