Whether the sting of last year's embarrassing loss at home had anything to do with it, the Montana Grizzlies were obviously motivated.

The Griz took a 17-7 lead at halftime, then erupted for three touchdown passes in the first 6 minutes of the third quarter to blow the game open, and coasted to a 45-20 thumping of the fourth-ranked UC Davis Aggies in Davis, California this afternoon.

UM quarterback Dalton Sneed threw five touchdown passes (22-33 for 268 yards) and the Griz ran for 260 yards (Marcus Knight leads the way with 98). It was a complete turnaround from last year's game against UC Davis in Missoula, when Montana had an 18-point lead at halftime, only to be outscored 46-0 in the second half.

The Griz go to 4-1 on the year and 1-0 in Big Sky Conference play. It's onto Homecoming! Montana takes on Idaho State October 5. Scott Gurnsey and I will be on the air at 11, live at the GSA tailgate site. Stop by, listen to the show on the PA system and enjoy the atmosphere. See you then Griz Nation!
