He was a heck of player for the Griz, and as we're finding out, a pretty dang good coach for them, too.

Congratulations to Montana Grizzly head basketball coach Travis DeCuire, who on Wednesday was voted by his fellow coaches as Big Sky Conference Men's Basketball Coach of the Year.

Travis has led the Griz to a 14-2 conference record this season, and the No. 1 seed in the men's conference tournament in Reno. With just one senior on the roster, Montana finished the regular season 23-7, the sixth most wins in school history.

The Griz have now posted three 20-win seasons with Coach DeCuire in charge, nearing completion of only his fourth season as the head guy. The Grizzlies have their sights set   on their first Big Sky Conference tourney title since 2013, when they open play in the quarterfinals against North Dakota Thursday at 1:05 p.m.

Go get that tournament trophy, coach. Griz Nation is mighty proud of you!
