May the 4th be with you, and happy Star Wars Day to all you lightsaber-wielding, force-following, Sith and Jedi.

Star Wars has been in my life since I was six years old. The first Star Wars movie I ever watched was Episode II: Attack of the Clones, which is actually one of the worst Star Wars properties out there. As a kid, however, I didn't care. It was astonishing to watch hundreds of Jedi take on the droid army and the creation of the clone army.

I was hooked, and I still love Star Wars to this day.

But not all of Star Wars is good—looking at you, Episode IX: Rise of Skywalker.”

That's right, it's ole Ben Kenobi who lives out past the Dune Sea. Montana wasn't alone in choosing Obi-Wan as their favorite character. Maine, Minnesota, Oregon, Washington, and Wyoming all had Obi-Wan pop up at the top of the list.

Do I agree with Montana? No, but I do love the legendary Jedi. In my humble, nerdy opinion, you have to go with Darth Vader as the most influential, most popular character of all-time.

He is THEE iconic villain of pop culture. Even if you've never seen Star Wars or know nothing of George Lucas' creation, you still know Vader's mask and his wheezing.

Several states had Vader, Luke Skywalker, Yoda or Grogu. California was bizarre, picking Fennec Shand, who is in The Mandalorian and Book of Boba Fett on Disney+.

I didn't see that coming.
