On Friday, we got word that Kettlehouse would be permanently closing its Northside location as a result of the COVID-19 closures, and we speculated how many other Missoula businesses would be directly impacted by the virus in this way.

Well, we didn't have to wait long - over the weekend, The Montana Distillery posted to their Facebook page that, after five years in business, they will be closing their doors in Missoula at the end of the month. They note, though, that the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic was only a small factor in their decision. In fact, the bigger issue was the increase in property taxes, which became unsustainable for them at their current location.

The good news is, even if they're leaving Missoula behind, Montana Distillery will continue to operate. They have plans to move to another community in Montana which they describe as "small business friendly," though the post doesn't make it clear where exactly they'll be moving to.

Hopefully it's somewhere close by - it's a bummer that they've got to move, but it's encouraging that they'll still be operating. Did you ever visit the Montana Distillery? Are you sad to see it move out of Missoula?
