Today is a tough day, my friends. I am writing this article from the depths of my office as a miserable individual who is yearning for another company holiday. Just a couple of days ago, life was joyous and work-free. Now, I am back to my nefarious 9-5 schedule... but only for a couple of days before we get New Year's Eve off.

Now, I'm complaining about the three days I have to work before we get another day off, but I'll stop if we get more days off in the future.

One Montanan—an anonymous online user—is going to bat for fellow Montanans to get another day of work off. The individual wants to make Montana Day an official state holiday.

We should make Montana Day an official state holiday.

Reddit user pointofview221 in r/Montana shared a petition to make Montana a state holiday. Kate Burroughs created the petition on change.org. She says, "By creating 'Montana Day' as a state holiday, we would not only honor the unique history and culture of Montana but also stimulate local economies and foster a greater sense of state pride among our residents."

I think that's all great, but I'm more focused on the potential day off. If we don't get the day off on November 8 (the day Montana became a state) or April 6 (406 area code), then what's the point? We love holidays because there is no work to be done.

If we can't get Montana Day signed into effect, then I have a few other ideas.

  • Super Bowl Monday. This should be a national holiday, and I'm not sure what's taking so long. Everybody wants to be hungover on Super Bowl Monday. What's the matter with you all?

  • Griz-Cat Friday. Everybody wants to be hungover for Griz-Cat. Give us Friday off, you cowards!

  • Literally any other day. I don't know, guys. I'm struggling to write this article today. When is New Year's Day?
